Will YouTube Kill Cable?

There was an article that I read a few days ago which asked the asked the question
"Will You Tube kill Cable"? At the end of 2011, You Tube acquired $100 million to create branded channels which is to provide new content for the masses. They are hoping that viewers whom are frustrated with their cable providers will start to gravitate toward these channels. It's a great idea if they can start providing viewers really good shows like "Dexter", "Fringe" and "Breaking Bad".  It more than just a "if you build it they will come" type of attitude but if the shows are worth watching then...

However it they overload with celebrity channels where there is no creativity being made then...

But we must also keep in mind that although YT is free once they get successful content there will be a shift in how it will be delivered. Like the the drug dealer motto "The first one is free"

How will this help filmmakers? Well it can lead to bigger independent content popularity as it will bring more people to YT (as if they need any more). And I'm sure there will soon be an indie film that will be streamed onto YT that will take the website to new heights and they will become extremely competitive with Netflix and others like it.

I say if you're able to find that niche to market yourself to the masses on YouTube then go for it!
