In the past, it seemed Ryan Reynolds has been mostly popular because of his personal life and not so much because of his films success but with the buzz around the trailer for "Deadpool", it seems that Reynolds may finally have a serious commercial hit on his hands. For those tracking his career, he hasn't had a solid, bonafied box office hit since "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock.
The film "Safe House" with Denzel Washington was okay but not as solid as the 2009 Romantic Comedy. And both are different forms of "buddy films" so to speak...
And I bring this up because this thing called “Hollywood” is a Business and what you bring to the box office or to now online and discs sales is what truly matters which is why an actor like Sylvester Stallone has found new life in films.
Bottom line HIS MOVIES SELL!
So what might this mean?
If "Deadpool" is a Hit, I'm guessing the days of Reynolds doing smaller, edgier films were he gets buried or locked inside of a cars or whatever are probably over...
And funny as it may sound, he might be this generation's Bruce Willis as he seems to bring a smart ass, off beat sense of humor to many off his characters (Blade: Trinity, Green Lantern, R.I.P.D.) all equally bad projects as well as comic book stories.
So I guess a "Die Hard" remake (or Rip off) is in his cards.
Or can Reynolds become another Ben Affleck, Matt Damon or Jeremy Renner where he'll gain some awards or nominations... or am I pushing it here?
