At first reading, I gasped as I believe that this will be a major career changer for her. I then emailed others to gather their opinions and one remark I recieved was "I think this was a bad choice". And I had to repley "Remember, that's what we said about the guy who got cast as the Joker". Hathway was done enough films that should have solidify her as a bonifide talent and yet she has hed her moments (Devil wears Prada, Brokeback Mountain and Rachel Getting Married) yet I'm sure she's looking for successful consistency which is probably due to casting or studios whom may not see her as the next Streep or Dunaway. This film could do that as she gets to debut more of a darker side on a wider scale. It is unfortunate that we never got to see the fruits of Heath Ledger's labor after "Knight" (coincidently they were both in "B. Mountain" and hopefully my casting of Jake Gyllenhal as the next Joker would make the cycle complete...) but after "The Dark Knight Rising" (lame title btw) Hathway will begin getting next level projects (other than Valentine's day). This should be the "Julia Roberts" turning point for her that leads to the golden statue many actors strive for (sorry Wings Hauser). And this is not me saying that "Rising" will be the one but it will place her intat firing range.
Now this is all pending if the third Batman film kicks ass!
P.S.: So if Christian Bale wins the golden statue for "The Fighter" how big will his ego get? SHould we expect another on set rant on "Rising"???
And how interesting would it have been if Natalie Portman was cast? I guess many might think she's too short... Hmm
