Rob Rod. to "reboot" Predator and "finally "Machete"

Now if you've track back a few weeks ago you will understand my feelings regarding remakes (of classic films) so I'll be somewhat brief... Bad, Bad, Bad move. I always thought of him as a filmmaker with often original concepts although I still feel that he needs to tighten up the storytelling skill sets or he will still be taking in Tarantino's dust (I mention QT because they are buddy buddy. And I understand that some critics felt that Rob Rod stepped up his storytelling over Tarantino with the duo's last effort GRINDHOUSE but that might have been because QT gave it the once over and aided Rob Rod's story into what it was). Anyhow when it comes to exploring and taking advantage of the new cinematic technology he always stands out as a pioneer. So why do I feel like this is a step backward? A long time ago, I really had aspirations of directing the SIN CITY novel "A DAME TO KILL FOR" and my heart dropped down to my stomach after reading that Rob Rod was going to direct the first SIN CITY. I also wanted to create a really cool FAT ALBERT but we've seen what happened with that one. What ever happened to Kenan Thompson? Oh yeah he's still on SNL searching for a standout character.. (Oops!). Anyhow I got over this by creating my own version of a S.C. but waaaaaaaaaay different. And one day you all will get a chance to see that story take off. But this story is such a narrative mixture of influences of other films and rather than "swagger jack" things of the past, I'd rather have something original that would tilt a film lover's head. And I know a pessimist will have a healthy retort such as "There are no original concepts..."
Alright y then... This now leads me into the often inquired and anticipated "original" Rob Rod "MACHETE" project. It's about time. God willing this will be a hit and finally put actor Danny Trejo in a position to become a more recognizable name. I really thought that Michael Mann BLEW IT BIG TIME not casting him as Lieutenant Castillo in the "Miami Vice" feature. What a way for Trejo to get to that next character level. I also felt that Jamie Foxx was miscast as well. I'm a serious "Miami Vice" buff so I have issues with the film. So I guess I'll make a statement on that after I finish this Rob Rod blog. I had this interesting idea when they were considering make this film a DVD release. But I'll save it until it is released. I'll be damned to give an established director Free advice. Unless he requested "The Skeleptica Effect" then I'd have to return the favor.
